Molecular Simulation of Guest Molecules in Nanoporous Materials
We anticipate several post-doc openings in 2008 for projects related to guest molecules in nanoporous materials such as zeolites and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Zeolites are widely used in industry, and MOFs are promising new materials for a variety of applications, including catalysis, energy storage, and adsorption separations. Applications of interest to us currently include adsorption separations, sensing, removal of contaminents from air streams, and catalysis. The projects will involve Monte Carlo simulations, molecular dynamics simulations, and quantum chemical calculations of adsorption thermodynamics, diffusion, catalysis, and ionic and electrical conductivity in zeolites and MOFs. There is an opportunity for close collaboration with industrial researchers and with experimental groups. The positions require a strong background in molecular modeling algorithms and software development. Good communication skills will also be required to work with our experimental collaborators and industrial partners.

Interested candidates should send a CV (in pdf) and names of 3 references by e-mail to snurr "at" northwestern "dot" edu.
